For its 14th season, Clavecin en Concert will be offering five concerts during which you will be able to enjoy the music of internationally renowned artists. Our concerts will be held at Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Secours chapel (400, St-Paul East Street - Champ-de-Mars Metro), in the heart of the Old Montreal. Maps and trip planner are available on this link.



BAROQUE EUROPE
 

October 12th 2007, 8 PM

11 musicians from the Montreal Symphonic Orchestra and Luc Beauséjour, harpsichordist, present a musical panorama of Europe of the 17th and 18th centuries. Works by Purcell, Handel, Buonamente, Corelli, Vivaldi, Johann-Sebastien Bach and Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach

 


J.S. BACH, THE LUTHERAN LITURGICAL YEAR

November 23th 2007, 8 PM

Shannon Mercer (soprano), Philippe Magnan (oboe), Nicole Trotier (violin), Amanda Keesmaat (cello) and Luc Beauséjour (positive organ) interpret sacred works of Bach: ten arias for soprano and chorales for organ ordered according to the liturgical calendar.

 


GOLDBERG VARIATIONS

February 22nd 2008, 8 PM

In 2004, Frenchman Benjamin Alard was awarded the First prize at the Bruges international harpsichord competition. During his first visit on Canadian soil, the young harpsichordist will play the famous variations of Johann Sebastian Bach.

 


THE UNUSUAL CONCERT

March 28th 2008, 8 PM

The French artist Brigitte Haudebourg (pianoforte) and Alain Lépine (narrator) introduce music and texts linked to French Revolution. In program: descriptive writings of Charpentier, Lemière, Dussek and other composers. The well established musician, Brigitte Haudebourg, who is also harpsichordist, will be heard for the first time in Canada.

 


THE MUSIC OF HAPPINESS, THE MISFORTUNE OF LUCREZIA

May 23rd 2007, 8 PM

We present Italian music and works by Handel. Seldom heard in concert, music for cornetto and mute cornetto by composers such as Castello, Fontana and Frescobaldi, will come alive again thanks to the art of Matthew Jennejohn. Soprano Martha Guth (New York) will interpret a variety of pieces and also the famous and emotional cantata Lucrezia by Handel. These two artists are accompanied by the cellist Amanda Keesmaat and the harpsichordist Luc Beauséjour. This concert will be broadcast by Espace Musique (Radio-Canada).
